NRA CCW (Conceal Carry)

Course Goal: Teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense.
NRA CCW Course topics include: Firearm Safety (Mandatory), Pistol Nomenclature and Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense, Basic Defensive Pistol Skills, Drawing from Concealment, Loading and Stoppage Remediation, Mindset, Carry Modes and Pistol Concealment, and Sport Shooting and Training Activities.
Students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with NRA Certified Instructors.
Students will receive reference books, take a NRA CCW Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate.
Course prerequisite: Student must have completed and passed the NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation OR NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course at BVRPC. STUDENTS TAKING THIS COURSE ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE A HIGH DEGREE OF GUN HANDLING PROFICIENCY. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER'S COURSE.
Students are required to bring:

A semi-automatic pistol of which you are most comfortable shooting with a 4” or 5” barrel that can be shot confidently and on target.

300 rounds of ammo (may not use all)

An OWB holster made for your pistol that covers the trigger. No SERPA holsters permitted. No universal, fabric or flimsy holsters permitted.

TWO magazines that hold at least 6 rounds.

Mag pouch preferred but not required.
